Progress of new IMBC building
Construction contract signed and development plans unveiled
The construction contract with Apostolopoulos S.A., of Athens and Heraklion, whose tender was accepted for the construction of the central IMBC building, was signed on 17th June. The new buildings will house the research facilities and
laboratories (3185 sq. m), the administration offices(985 sq.m),
common room and general facilities (815 sq.m), amphitheatre and
seminar rooms (330 sq.m) and a purpose-built Library (170 sq.m).
There will also be ample storage and other auxiliary space(1260 sq.m) to
house the very diverse equipment used by IMBC. On 22nd June, a press conference was held at which the plans
and architects impressions of the new buildings were unveiled
before the General Secretary of the region of Crete, the
