The IMBC recognises that this is a useful and dynamic medium for the communication of a broad spectrum of information. The ICT Department is responsible for the design, implementation and production of multi-media projects and has given the IMBC the distinction of being one of the very first European scientific institutes to produce these titles independently.

POSEIDON

The POSEIDON CD-ROM was commissioned by the National Centre for Marine
Research in Athens. It is not for sale, but can be obtained free of charge
from the Institute of Oceanography which runs the programme. Contact:

AQUALEX

AQUALEX is a glossary, covering the aquaculture cycle and its terminology, with definitions of more than 2700 terms in English, French, German and Greek. Much more than a traditional dictionary, it provides near-instantaneous translations from and into each language. Another useful new feature allows access to more than 10,000 terms in high-quality native speaker sound, so that users can practise and compare their own efforts with the recordings. Published by John Wiley & Sons, it is now distributed by AMC Limited, Dublin.
A new seven-language version is now almost complete, with Spanish, Norwegian and Italian.
