- Active participation in many national and international research programmes
on benthic ecology, environmental impacts, population dynamics as well
as benthic-pelagic coupling. Expertise in the areas of impacts of fishing
on the marine environment. Author of over 30 publications and editor
of several project final reports.
- Participation in the Organising Committee of several International Conferences
(28th EMBS, 7th Deep Sea Biology Symposium, ICES Symposium Marine Benthos
Dynamics: Environmental and Fisheries impacts).
- Minute Secretary/Rapporteur, IMBC Scientific Council and Advisory Board
Research Interests: benthic ecology, macro- and mega-benthic community
structure and dynamics, environmental impacts with emphasis on environment-fisheries
interactions, age, growth and mortality of benthic invertebrates,
survival, vulnerability and functional roles of benthic invertebrates,
biodiversity, imaging methodologies (underwater video, Side Scan Sonar,
SPI), taxonomy, ecology and feeding ecology of polychaetes.
