Education

• 1979 B.Sc. in Electrical engineering from the Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands.
• 1983 M.Sc. in Electronic engineering from the Technical University of Delft, The Netherlands.

Professional Experience

• 1987 - to date. Participation and coordination of research and development projects carried out by the Fisheries Department of the Institute of Marine Biology of Crete and the Fisheries Research Laboratory of the University of Crete.

Other relevant activities / experience

• Member of the Fishery sector of the National Council for Agricultural Policy of Greece.
• Member of the EU group of independent experts dealing with the preparation of the fourth generation multi-annual guidance programmes for the Community fishing fleets.

Current running projects

• Monitoring of the fishing activity of the Greek fishing fleet.
• Investigation of the fishing intensity of the Greek fishing fleet.
• Development of a Lagoon Information System in Greece.
• Investigation of the Marine turtle by-catch in the Greek drifting long line fisheries.
• Development of large-scale fish traps for the recapture of fish escaped from aquaculture cages.
• Development of the Regional Database Management System for lake Victoria fisheries between Kenya Tanzania and Uganda.
