Print Based Materials
The IMBC designs its own printed materials in-house. Using the latest publishing hardware and software the ICT Department produces a wide range of publications for print for distribution within the scientific field and also to a wider audience.
Books, reports, video covers of all kinds, electronic databases and bibliographies for general scientific use are designed and produced.
Conference materials of all kinds, including high-quality poster presentations for high-tech exhibitions have shown the quality of IMBC marine research all over Greece (BusTech: Athens; SETH: Athens, INFOSYSTEMS and HELEXPO, Salonika,) and Europe (MAST: Sorrento, EURASLIC: Malta, Coastal Zone Management: Venice, EUROGOOS: The Hague, EAS: Verona, LEONARDO: Brussels)

Multimedia/CD ROM
The IMBC recognises that this is a useful and dynamic medium for the communication of a broad spectrum of information. The ICT Department is responsible for the design, implementation and production of multi-media projects and has given the IMBC the distinction of being one of the very first European scientific institutes to produce these titles independently.

World Wide Web Site (www.imbc.gr)
The ICT designed and developed the IMBC World Wide Web site (in 2000, more than 80.000 visitors accessed 430.112 pages and made 1.4 million hits). The site aims to promote the activities and facilities of the IMBC nationally and internationally by providing unique services to the marine science community, making available resources such as abstracts, bibliographies and other types of databases such as glossaries and directories. The site has proved very useful in that it gives a detailed description of each department of the IMBC, with contact details, and thousands of queries have been answered directly from the Web site.
The services to marine science institutes world wide have proved a real success, with a number of services appealing to serious scientists being available online. There is free access to scientific abstracts from workshops that we have run (European Marine Biology Symposium 1993, MAST Mediterranean Targeted Project 1996), "New Directions in Systematics", European Science Foundation in Systematic Echology (15-18 October 1997), from our own collected reprints (Vol.1, 1987-1992; Vol 2, 1993-94) and from international conferences run by United Nations Agency UNEP (MEDCOAST), and Monterey Bay Research Institute (8th Deep Sea Symposium, Monterey, California, 1997).
The Mediterranean Targeted Project extended abstracts from the 1996 workshop are linked to the EU MAST WWW pages in Brussels.
