Abstract
This paper deals with technoeconomic evaluation
of Turkish purseseine vessels operated in the Black
Sea in anchovy fishing. A computer simulation model
has been developed to study the behaviour of this particular
vessels under various designs and operational conditions.
The data used in this study have been obtained from
oral interviews with the local fishermen, local shipyards
where vessels under investigation are built, official
statistics and the author's observations in fishing
operations. The SLAM II computer program has been used
to run the model. To perform the economical evaluation
a 'sensitivity analysis' has been carried out, using
the 'internal rate of return' as a measure of merit.
