Odontozona Minoica, New Species, From The Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Decapoda: Stenopodidea)  <B>Odontozona Minoica, New Species, From The Eastern Mediterranean Sea (Decapoda: Stenopodidea)</B><P></B><I>C. Dounas and A. Koukouras</I><B><P> ABSTRACT</B><I><P> Odontozona minoica, </I>a new species of stenopodid shrimp from the Aegean Sea, is described. This is the first species of the genus <I>Odontozona </I>recorded from the Mediterranean Sea. The differences between the new species and the eight known species of the genus are discussed.<BR> During a cruise along the northwest coast of Crete, by the vessel of the Greek Hydrographical Service <I>Nautilus, </I>an ovigerous female belonging to the genus <I>Odontozona </I>was collected from a silty substrate at a depth of 330 m. After review of the relevant literature, it became obvious that the presence of this genus in the Mediterranean had been previously unrecorded.<BR> The specimen has been deposited in the Museum of the Zoological Department in the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (MZDAUT).<P> JOURNAL OF CRUSTACEAN BIOLOGY, 9(2): 341-348,1989<P>
