Determine the gel time of thermosetting compounds such as resins, styrenes, monomers, formaldehydes, thermosetting foodstuffs, and other polymerizable materials. The gelation point is characterized by a sudden increase in material viscosity, and the meter senses the increased torsion on a slowly rotating glass spindle in the sample. At the gel point, the timer automatically stops and an audible buzzer signals you that the gel point has been reached. Achieve reproducible results by controlling the temperature of your sample. An immersion heater is included—plug the heater directly into a power source, or use a temperature controller for more precise control (not included, order separately). A cooling coil at the top of the assembly prevents evaporation which could alter the level of liquid in the bath jar. Optional starter kit includes twelve test tubes, twelve stirring rods, twelve Allen screws, and one Allen wrench—ideal when running multiple tests.
