From an equipment perspective, bioreactors and fermentation systems are available and customizable to the user's needs- choose from small microflask systems or ramp up with pre-assembled culture bundles as large as 15 liters. These all work whether you are doing fermentation to grow phototrophic or plant-like organisms, or even forms of bacteria. There are also vacuum aspiration systems, homogenizers, aseptic sampling systems.
