Cole-Parmer offers a wide range of disolved oxygen (DO) meters and controllers for a variety of environments and applications. Our range includes dissolved oxygen meters (DO) to measure the amount of oxygen dissolved in a unit volume of water, chemical oxygen demand meters (COD) to measure the amount of organic compounds in water and biochemical oxygen demand meters to measure the concentration of biodegradable organic matter present in a sample. Cole-Parmer carries a range of low cost portable oxygen meters which are ideal for field based oxygen measurements. Many models have an onboard memory to store and recall oxygen readings taken. For laboratory based applications, select from our range of benchtop oxygen meters. Features of this style of oxygen meter can include a computer interface either by RS-232 or USB. Speak to our Applications Specialists for free technical support and let us bring our 50 years of oxygen measurement experience help you solve your application needs.
Our range in oxygen meters can be used in a variety of water quality applications for example to ensure that the oxygen level is correct for aquaculture to survive; sewage treatment oxygen levels are sufficient to ensure bacteria can continue to survive to allow decomposition and in industrial applications to ensure that the oxygen level in water is correct to prevent corrosion and boiler scale build up which inhibits heat transfer.
Oxygen Meter Selection Guide
When selecting oxygen systems consideration must be given to:
- Oxygen Probes - Either polargraphic probe or galvanic probe. Polargraphic probes require an input voltage from the meter to polarize the electrodes in order for it to make its measurements. Since the voltage is coming from an external source it can take time to warm up and stabilize. However with galvanic probes, they consist of two different metals which polarize to generate it's own voltage. Since there is no external source, the probes are ready for use and do not require a warm up time like the polargraphic probes.
- Media Conditions - pressure, temperature and salinity all affect solubility and diffusion rate of oxygen hence affecting the oxygen measurements being taken. Our meters offer manual and automatic temperature and pressure compensation to standardize the oxygen measurements. Most meters feature manual salinity correction to compensate for variations in ionic concentration by simply entering the salinity of the sample in parts per thousand.
- Environmental considerations - if space is an issue Cole-Parmer offers portable oxygen meters, bench top oxygen meters and panel mount oxygen meters and controllers to fit into a variety of areas. Oxygen meters are also available with waterproof housing to allow indoor, splash proof and submersible applications.
- Functionality - oxygen meters now available with on board memory and USB, RS-232 or Ethernet output connections to make your oxygen measurement needs easier and more convenient. As well as measuring dissolved oxygen multiparameter meters are available to measure pH, conductivity, resistivity, dissolved oxygen and many more.
